Picnic

Family Picnic

The Cub Scout Family Picnic will take place on Saturday, June 3rd from 11:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Butcher Park, located on Martin Road between Mound and Ryan. Please go to the sign-up table to register the number of adults and children attending. We also need volunteers for this day. If you are volunteering, please go to the sign up table to get details on a meeting with Mr. Van De Velde . Today is the final day to sign up.

Day Camp

Day Camp

The Michigami District Day Camp is July 10-13, from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Freedom Hill County Park on Metro Parkway. If you have not turned in your medical form, please turn it in tonight at the sign up table (extras are available if you need one). You can still register, however the fee is now $40.00. Make checks payable to Pack 1478. We are required to have 6 adult volunteers per day. If your scout is participating, we need you to work at least one day. Please go to the sign up table to volunteer and see what days we still need adults. Volunteers will be contacted to decide on a meeting time with Mr. Van De Velde for more details about the week.

 

Baseball

We have planned an outing to the Tiger's Game on Friday, August 4th Game time is at 7:05 P.M. There will be fireworks after the game. Our seats are in the Mezzanine, Section 216. Order your tickets at the sign up table, or contact Donna Rafferty. Seats are $13.00. Payment is due today. Make checks payable to Pack 1478. Tickets will be handed out at the picnic.

Pinewood Derby Car

 

District Pinewood Derby

The District Pinewood Derby will take place on Saturday, June 3rd, at Warren Woods-Tower High School, 27900 Bunert, 1/2 mile South of 12 Mile Road . The top 2 winners in each den will be competing. Pre-registration is Friday, June 2nd from 7 to 8:30 P.M. and Saturday, June 3rd at the following times:

Webelos 8:00-8:30 A.M.

Bears 8:30-9:30 A.M.

Wolves 9:30-10:30 A.M.

Tiger Cubs...10:30-11:30 A.M.

Race times are as follows:

Webelos 8:45 A.M.

Bears 10:00 A.M.

Wolves 11:00 A.M.

Tiger Cubs.. 12:00 Noon

Participants can build a new car if they wish. Cost is $3.50 for a new kit. If you are interested, please ask at the sign up table

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A CUB SCOUT SANCTIONED EVENT

Our annual canoe trip is June 23-25. Cost is $100.00 (or less) for each adult/scout pair. Actual cost will be calculated at time of payment, based on sleeping arrangements and canoeing. All cabins must be filled before we can add tents or campers. If you have a rooming preference, please let us know at the sign-up table. Payment is due today. Make checks payable to Theresa Chopp. (As this is not a cub scout sanctioned event, we cannot use cub scout funds).

Naval Encampment

The Naval Encampment is set for October 21-22. We are planning to caravan over early to Niagara Falls to visit the Journey Behind the Falls (Caves that pass behind and in front of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls), Niagara Spanish Aero Car (a ride in an open air gondola 250 ft. above the Whirlpool Basin), and the Great Gorge Adventure (take an elevator down to stroll along the boardwalk besides the rapids of the lower Niagara River), with transportation provided by a People Mover Tram between all three attractions. Each scout family must have one adult attending. (i.e. Dad can go with his 2 scouts) Siblings are allowed to attend, however sleeping arrangements are co-ed. No siblings under 6 years of age. Scouts and parents will get first consideration, and siblings will only be able to go if there is empty spots. We have 120 spots Cost is $46 per person, due by June 3 (picnic). This includes admission to the Naval Encampment, the three attractions listed above. Saturday breakfast consisting of donuts bagels, coffee, milk, orange juice, and apple juice. Dinner and Sunday breakfast are provided on the ship Scouts (and siblings if enough room) will also get a patch commemorating the event. Attending adults must help with the fire watch. In order to have as few as cars as possible (to get through customs quicker), please let us know if you have a larger vehicle that extra people can go in, and how many extra you can take. If you plan to go to Niagara Falls/Buffalo the night before, please let us know at the sign in table.. Registration will also take place at the sign in table. Please let us know if you are not an American citizen so we can get the information you need in order to enter Canada. As details will be coming in during the summer, if possible please provide us with an e-mail address where you can be reached at the sign up table. This will save the cost of mailing and playing phone tag. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Chopp.
